This is my latest vintage revival!! I painted the frame with Chalk paint and distressed and then waxed. I also reupholstered and did some underneath, spring/webbing repairs to bring this beauty back to life. I am very happy with the results.
I knew at the auction where I purchased this settee, along with a side chair, it would be beautiful again, and that I could update the look and feel of the piece. I probably paid too much for the piece to begin with, but I just had to get my hands on it and do this
Here is a pic BEFORE:
(please ignore the very messy office in the background…)
She was dark and dated and had pink crush velvet. The wood was thirsty and you really could not see all the detail of the carvings on this piece with it so dark. I love antiques as much as the next collector, but I like to give a "new life" or a "revival" as I call it
so that it is unique and has personality with a modern twist.
I used French Grain sacks (reproductions) and a linen and polyester blend fabric for the seat and arms, also a burlap gimp (trim).
I love how she looks in my house, but this piece is FOR SALE!
I most likely will not take this piece to my shop at BAYARD ANTIQUES, but
I have listed on my ETSY SHOP. I am just getting started listing items there.
I will also be showing this piece at the VINTAGE BLISS MARKET, where I will be a vendor June 21-22, here in St Louis MO.
I can't wait to show a few more of the pieces I have been working on… this one took the cake though, it took several weeks to complete and now I need to scramble to get my inventory ready for the show!!
Thanks for reading. I hope that I am able to get back connected with so many great blogs I have followed and who followed mine for over the past year. I know my address has changed, via my mess with my domain being hijacked!!! I look forward to connecting with you blogging world again!!
Have a great day! Stay tuned for more projects soon!
